I don't just pull them out of my rump like some people think I do. It takes time and sometimes a lot of bird seed to put together.

THIS is actually hilarious. Weird. :)

No, what this whole thing has made abundantly clear is that there are only certain people allowed to make certain types of tasteless, inane, stupid pranks, and that there's no actual rules to it.

Some people will get jerked around, called names, have bad feelings, and they're all assholes if they don't think it's funny.

If you cannot see that there were people that were needlessly made to be concerned because they were of the impression that a DQ is a serious thing, then maybe you ought to rethink your level of compassion and understanding.

It *WAS* stupid and childish, and just because some people say that people that got caught out don't have a sense of humor doesn't make it so.

So, errm, which is it Jeb? Are you actually sore about the April Fools thing, or are you actually just joking about being sore as your own april fools prank still? Or do you even know?

The best part of a "good" April Fool's joke is getting the reaction from the suckers who fell for it. Obviously this was a "good" joke based on the reaction it received.

Thanks DPC for a great joke!!! and thanks to all those complainers!!.... your reaction is making the joke even better.

Your kidding right, how in this day and age can you compare a bomb threat to a April Fool's joke. Gez get over it !!
What I was trying to say: it was a harmless joke and when people react to a harmless joke you know your joke worked.

Your analogy to a bomb threat is very insensitive and shows a lack of decorum.

What this joke has confirmed is that a lot of people here take this site way to serious.

April Fool's Day has always been stupid and childish. I expected you, Jeb, of all people, to be able to accept it as such. Perhaps your kids didn't play it on you this year??

As I said, I'm not sure. The original prank suggestion was to target people in the scores threads, but it may not have been done that way.

Well, I was collateral damage. I haven't posted in the scores thread, but I got the e-mail anyway. To be honest, it has me going for a few seconds, but then I saw my pic still up on the front page, so I went to bed without incident.

I didn't think it was that funny, but the general ambivalence from the community is hillarious.

We are very fortunate. If this April Fools joke was our biggest problem this week then we are way ahead of the game.

I wonder how many moms were caressing their child's forehead as they took the Chemo Drugs this week? I wonder how the mom would react if their husband came in and said..."What the F**k.... I can't believe my freestudy entry, "Bug on a Wire" got a DQ !!!!!!!"

Very mean-spirited; not funny at all. I submitted a good photo that I had spent a lot of time on; I took about 20 shots of the same view and about 75 shots on the garden I went to. I did minimal editing and was proud of my image. I spent a lot of time wondering what I had done wrong, reviewing my editing, submitted my original image, and lost sleep over it. An April Fool's joke is something you do to a friend or someone you have a personal relationship with and have a chance to laugh about with and plan a way to fool them back. Coming from an official source with rules & penalties for not following the rules is inappropriate. What if the IRS sent you a notice that you owed back taxes & penalties? Do you think that would be funny, even though it was sent on April Fool's Day? I noticed that some participants did enjoy the "joke", well, good for them, but they are in the minority. In spite of my efforts I have not had a lot of good ratings. This was a blow to my confidence. I think the individual who was responsible should be "disqualified" from judging.

I can give you a sure fire way to eliminate the problem Richard. TURN OFF THE UPDATE BUTTON IN YOUR PROFILE. Ever since I encountered the roll-over "1" bandit a couple of years ago, I've had mine turned off. It's been nice. Almost like waiting for film to come back from the developer. I wish they'd let me turn the comments off too! Then I'd just have to wait til after voting to see how I'd done.

Good point! I'll take your advice. What I learned today was the SC wants us to not take DPC seriously. Done! Communications from authorities at DPC are to be considered spoofs. Done! And, we should laugh off nefarious voting in challenges. Done! Now, I'll go find a website which I can take seriously. (All comments I've made today are a late April Fool's Joke! The last laugh....)

Waiting for my next vote for more than 4 hours now. Are the users so upset that they are not even voting? Oh, wait everyone is busy on this thread.

I'm sure glad you don't have as much pull with the authorities here, as you do at that other website you're going to that is all serious. I'd hate to lose another place to hang out and have a little fun.

Some people can take being teased. Some people can't tell the difference between teasing and bullying. My current working theory is, people who can't take an April fool's joke were picked on too much as a child and have had enough put-downs in their life that a pretend one holds no humor.

That'll be $1200, please. I'll send you the bill.
