I agree with Yo_Spiff. I voted low on this because your model (friend) is blurred, and Natsumi Hayashi typically has very little motion blur in her shots. But, as Yo_Spiff said, shooting to stop motion blur indoors is tough - our eyes adjust to low light situations very well, the camera not-so-much.
Things you did right (for dpchallenge) that many of your classmates did not: Correct size - 800 pixels per side max is pretty limiting, and you're best off using them all. JPG format is nice because you can adjust the compression to get the photo under 300K without hurting the quality too much (usually). |

Good try at freezing the motion, however the low light inside a school wasn't optimum for doing this. You could have accomplished this outdoors without problem. White balance is a tad off as well, giving a bit of a yellowish cast.
Added: I see you came back and checked the helpful box, so I know you are reading the comments and checking on your progress in the challenge. It's obvious that a high school photography class is participating in this challenge. I'm sure most of your classes entries are taking a beating. The DPC collective is pretty harsh on voting, but if you have a real interest in photography, please stick around here. It's a friendly and helpful community outside of the ring. I've learned a lot here, had some fun and even made a few real life friends. |

Cool position, I am afraid of how he landed that. A faster shutter speed would have froze him. |

Your almost vertical with the ground... Hope you landed on your feet! I might of tried to jump towards the camera to help with the blur. I'm not sure if your able to adjust your shutter speed with your camera but you you should be able to change the mode that your shooting from single to multi, that might also help. |

Too much motion blur, and the white balance is off. I think that if the model had been in focus, it would have been a great capture. Keep trying/playing around with different combinations with the camera! |

Nice one--that looks like it hurt about 0.2 seconds after you took it! |

Missing the point entirely. Faster shutter speed to freeze motion to make it look natural. Camera phone? White balance is also off. lazy lazy |

As a photographer I truly appreciate the idea of what apperas to be a class doing this challenge as a project. If this is the case then please do not be discouraged by the score... which I am sure is very low. If the subject was sharper I believe this shot would have done fairly well. Good luck and I hope you continue to enter challenges.
If photography is something that interests you then there is no better site to learn on than this one, so please kep submitting and learn as you go. |
