Challenge: Leap Day: In The Style Of: Natsumi Hayashi (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon Digital IXUS 300
Location: Ellenboror
Date: Mar 5, 2012
Aperture: 3.0
ISO: 80
Shutter: 1/30
Date Uploaded: Mar 6, 2012

I am a sophomore in high school. We were instructed to capture a picture of a person in flight. To do this I used my best friend. She jumped straight up in the air. I zoomed all the way out so I could capture the surrounding area. This process took the longest of the whole thing.

I like your pose. The idea is to leap but make it look as if your flying or levitating. So keeping your body and face relaxed a must. You have a blur to the picture, you can fix that by turning up your shutter speed. Remember that by doing this your shutter will be closing faster, letting in less light.

A little too much blur. There are also dark shadows, which I am assuming are from the flash.

As a photographer I truly appreciate the idea of what appears to be a class doing this challenge as a project. If this is the case then please do not be discouraged by the score... which I am sure is very low. Natsumi generally takes photographs that seem to be more natural even though they are staged. This one seems staged and is more of an action shot then a levitation shot. Additionally, a faster shutter speed would have helped freeze the subject giving the illusion of levitation.

If photography is something that interests you then there is no better site to learn on than this one, so please kep submitting and learn as you go.
