Thanks a lot for the comments. Tough going this one, as I only had my laptop monitor for viewing while editing. Now viewing it properly it doesn't quite look like what I thought it looked like. In fact I probably would have cropped it slightly differently.

Though no sun, it's the best "sunset" I could get, as there wasn't a cloud and I'd be shooting right into it. I was looking mostly for a nice gradient, though I certainly see why a lack of color and sun would have people guessing if it was indeed a sunset.

The grain silos were lit with a floodlight across the canal from the right. The steeple is also lit by floodlight from the front left. It creates a scene that's naturally lit from three different angles, and I thought that was interesting, though again confusing in this context.

I was hoping the inclusion of Jupiter and Venus at least provided a clue that I was shooting west. :)

Cool challenge idea.

Not sure I totally follow this comment at all. I thought this was an exceptionally well done image for this challenge. Whilst I'm sure it's wonderful in colour, that wasn't the challenge, was it? Nice one.

I'd nearly say this image was over appreciated to be honest. I mean... it's a sunset, right. Why do you have your sunset in black and white!? Colours would have made this image far more effective. Schoolboy error my friend.

The planets have been spectacular all month. Glad to see they got some screen time. Love this image.

Love Jupiter and Venus at about 3 degrees. Well done. This is a compelling image.... underappreciated.

I love that you can easily see the church steeple. But makes me wonder which direction the light is coming from? Maybe a street light? Beautiful image. I would like to see this make top ten.

Beautiful shot. Don't really see a sunrise or sunset, but I can see the color difference in the sky, which implies the rise/set.

Love the detail here, great angle as well.

Interesting composition, though the square crop doesn't work for me. A little less foreground would have improved this IMO.

Very nice composition of a somwhat "boring" sunject, but the river helps. The light in the sky is beautiful as well. Somehow the picture grows on me the longer I look at it :-)
