Maybe it's preferences, but I would have tried for more fire detail and less flash fill on the framing leaves. To me the emphasis should be on the subject being framed, and the frame should lend to the strength of that subject. This just didn't seem to accomplish it for me. Nice idea though.

This is a good concept, but for some reason I dont like the leaves in focus so much. They aren't that pretty to look at. I would have placed more emphasis on the fire and not the leaves.

too much strife between the fire - too distant and blurry - and the fern fronds - a bit overexposed and out of focus - I would have preferred a more decided preference for one or the other

The flash is harsh on the leaves... but still a good take.

In this case I think that focus should be reversed onto background object. The foreground object is not really appealing.
