Initial thoughts
Excellently captured â vivid colours and strong shapes.
Composition/ Content
The content is certainly exciting â reminds me of childhood (I have family living in Florida so we visited a number of times when I was a kid â and Iâve returned a few times as an adult too). The firework itself is just superb â perfectly round â perfectly captured â very strong graphical element. Itâs position over the castle is excellent, as is the blue lighting on the castle itself.
My main criticism would be the slightly âmessyâ feel of the bottom edge of the image. I donât know whether this would best be resolved by cropping more or less at the bottom â depends what else was there â but this crop doesnât add anything to your shot. Cropping at the top is also slightly tight though doesnât detract, in my mind.
Iâd also prefer to see a larger image size to enable me to better see the detail in the castle itself.
Background
Nicely black (on my monitor anyway).
Camera Work - Technical
Light of castle and firework well captured.
Digital Processing - Technical
Seems fine â cropping is not ideal.
Fits The Challenge
Yes.
Your Opinion On The Photo
Has a WOW factor but the potential is not maximised. Am surprised it didnât rank a little higher however.

Excellent shot. It's too bad the picture is so small. I'd love to see more detail. Excellent capture. Jacko. 8 |

Nice capture of the fireworks, but the small format of the phot makes it difficult to accurately judge technically. |

The only thing holding this picture back is size. Would have loved to seen it bigger. Great catch on the burst. 9 Could have been a 10. |

Beautiful shot! I would have liked it a bit larger and cropped alot more on the bottom. The faces in the corner are really distracting and the street lights don't help either. Still, ignoring the lower 1/8 it would be a 10, so I'll go a 9. Swash |

A crisp photo with a difficult motive. |

I am so torn on this photo. The timing is so fantastic. The fireworks are awesome. The portrait shot works well here. Then the bottome falls out of my "wow" and thrill. There's something wrong about the castle that I can't figure out. Then the photo abruptly cut off. The crop is a little tight on the top too. Without showing more of the village, at the bottom of the castle, the white lights are big distractions on each side of the castle. The people you could see, you've cropped off at the head, either in or just below. Best thing I can figure out is zoom out a little and see if that fixes it. But I'll still give it a 5. PTL |
