Thanks to my model, Fi, for agreeing to pose for my entry and many other shots we got on the day.. also a huge thanks to my finaceƩ Laura for doing the card suits inspired makeup design so well. Shoot was lots of fun :)
Taken with my older 1978 MF Fujinon 55mm prime lens (M42 fitment with adapter) set at F2.8 with lighting being a simple flashgun mounted on the camera and bounced off the ceiling (not quite at full power).
Not an original idea I know but I wanted to do this for this challange, a challenge which interested me as I also collect decks of cards.
The cards are suspended from the models middle finger, taped to some black thread which I cloned out in editing to give the illusion of them floating magically. Had to take quite a few shots due to cards spinning around with a mind of their own hehe. I used my 2.8 lens as I wanted the cards to be in nice focus with the model blurred a little but not too much, still wanted the makeup to be seen.
We also took lots of other shots with the model and the cards, hopefully I picked the right idea to enter..
Editing (Corel PSP X4): resized for editing, no cropping, brightness and contrast adjusted using levels, cloned out little annoying highlight in models hair and the black thread holding the cards (including extra bit that showed above fingers). Also cloned out a small blemish/spot on the models chest. Denoised a little using topaz denoise 4, selected cards and brightned then a little more using levels, resized for challange and sharpened using topaz sharpen. |
