A bit dark and the lower half of your face is lit more than your eyes. I bet at the end of the month we will all have set ups like Tim Tadder. |

To add to the previous comments you don't want the shadow from your nose to merge with the shadow on the other side of your face, a different angle or a fill light would help with that. Also don't be scared to throw some emotion in the shot, you kind of look like a deer in head lights. No one is going to make fun of you in a mean way and if you let your inhibitions go you will be surprised at the emotion you can add into your shots. One last suggestion is that your light source is very small (from looking at the catch lights in your eyes) an easy fix for this is instead of pointing your speedlite directly at yourself, turn it and bounce it off a large wall or something similar. Look forward to seeing more of your work. |

I sat through some lighting seminar a couple months ago and there was a word for that shadow your nose is creating. I can't remember it, but it wasn't good. Maybe try varying the position of the light or reflector. ...and throw out a more dramatic facial expression (take lessons from sempermarine) ;-) |

A bit too dark for me. What were your camera settings?

Would have liked to see some fill light in the shadowed corner of your right eye just so we could see it properly. |
