| I love the warm summer tones of the other, but I think I agree with Scott -- this one might score better. The meandering lines and the late evening light on the grass are great. It is a shame the sky did not give you any interesting clouds. Again, Scott's suggestion of trimming a bit of sky and letterboxing the format sounds like something to experiment with. |

I prefer this one, and actually I'd do a bit of work. The sunset is great, but for a FS it doesn't really jump off the screen like FS voters demand. I love the curve of the water here, the texture in the grass. If I were to ruin edit this, I'd crop the sky down a bit and exaggerate the gradient (lying, I don't really know how to do that), go B&W, darken it up to get a little moody and so the eye really follows the lighter path of the boat and shows off the gradient in the sky better, and then throw a letter box frame around it to make it cinematic.
And viola! 5.4! |
