Great action shot! I always feel a little bit sorry for the fish, but hey, the bird must eat too. |

Nicely done! I'm trying to imagine that fish in the cormorant's gullet, how strange it would look. I am fascinated by the details of life, especially when it's details I rarely or never get to see with my own eyes. Thanks!

I've only ever seen a cormorant once and that was last summer in California. Great timing and thanks for the nice close look at this bird - my look was not at all close. |

Fishing cormorants, we have those on Lake Dojran, in case you've been to this part of the south :). Back in the days people used them for fishing the way Bear described. Good catch! |

So cool.
My only beef is I wish you could see at least one eye of the fish. Love seeing that look of peril. |

Nice catch! I love having the time to just observe nature. And it is so much fun with camera in hand! |

I don't think I ever saw a cormorant with a flatfish before. That's a fish that lives on the bottom, big dive! A "fishing cormorant", btw, would be one with a collar around its neck to keep it from swallowing the fish; it's keeper would feed it after its work is done. They use them in Japan, traditionally. What you have here is a feeding cormorant :-) |
