This does not appear to be backlit but lit more from an overhead source of light....and some what out of focus as well...

I don't resonate with the subject I guess. Contrast and levels are fine. focus is fine. DOF is fine. Not really backlit.

I see more shadow falling towards the back than towards the front... Plus, the harsh light in the front. Both seem to suggest front lighting rather than backlighting.

not sure it strictly fits the challenge, or at least doesn't suggest especially that's it's been lit from behind. more on top really. also, i always felt the ipod looks better without the stand and even the headphone lead - mush less cluttered that way. angle of position of the camera needs lowering - i suspect a more straight-on image might reduce the swelling of the sides of the main subject. also, focus seems to be on the grain of the table, rather than the ipod.

the wood surface is distracting

More top lighting than back, isn't it?

the light seems to be more on the top, than the back

The Ipod is brilliant for this project because how the light comes of it. What I would want to see to make this shot great is a black bakcground and smaller spotlight and a tighter crop.

OK, trying to give some comments here.
When I see this photo, I dont go WOW! Because I just see a IPOD (or other electronic device) on the floor with a cable attached to it and a lamp shining on it.

Try to keep the viewer in mind when shooting a picture for DPC, your shooting for the masses....
