Am enjoying this side challenge and learning more about the 'art' of blur - it's not as easy as one might think.

Here I was tracking a single gull and was going to crop the second gull out but thought it would mess with the balance. I think I should try a faster shutter for a bit more definition?

And because I know salmiakki likes the theme tune this was shot in Balamory!

Now this is one for a very large print on the wall! The contrasts of color and light are wonderful. The flow and balance are excellent, and the birds are like angels.

I like the stripes that the motion blur creates. Beautiful rich colors.

That's good horizontal blur. Cool blues and nice splash of red (from a boat I think). I think the shutter speed for this one was good. Good blur for the viewer to use their imagination.

Thanks for that. ha. 7.00 am when I read your comments and now I'm destined to have that in my head for the whole day! Thanks Andrew!

I think it is more interesting with the second gull. Have an experiment and try the same exercise with a bunch of different (but still slow) shutter speeds. I think the outcome can be quite different.

I like it just the way it is. F@$% all the rules.
