A fresh strawberry was splashed into a glass of Smirnoff Ice. The best bubble effects only showed up for the first few splashes, but the glass kept getting all foggy from the condensation and made it hard to get a clear image of the strawberry inside. I ended up going with one of the middle images - still a little bubbly, but warm enough to be mostly clear without condensation. It was delicious, even warm.

Voted earlier coming back to comment.

A few years ago I tried to get a good shot with a strawberry in milk. It was not easy (after 50 drops with not one perfect shot I gave up). Getting the splash and the main subject in sharp detail focus is a really big challenge. Kudos to you for trying. The capture is not quite there as there are details on the strawberry that are lost and the splash is not as well defined as it could be. Perhaps a really fast shutter speed will get better results - then there is the issue with focus. Sometimes you get lucky. I wonder if one can focus on say, a straw placed in where one thinks the strawberry will land and fix the focus on that. Remove the straw, drop strawberry and hope for the best. I also want to add that what I do find appealing about the image is it's colors. The vibrant red of the strawberry and the bright yellow of the backdrop that makes me think of summer; a good color complement to the imagery that speaks of 'thirst quenching'.

I wish the focal point was sharp, but otherwise this is a very interesting image.

I love the color balance, especially the green. The tilt and cropping gives this lots of motion.

Nice motion, but it's very busy with all the colors and perhaps the strawberry needs some more space on the left.

This is a tough challenge to vote. I'm torn between "what are you trying to do here" and "what do I expect here". Further complicating matters is the question "what would I do here".

What I would expect would be a technically strong piece of eye-candy that would present the dessert in a way that I would want to at least sample it, if not order it. Along these lines I'm looking at technicals: backgrounds, distracting elements, exposure, sharpness. I'm also looking for creativity, imagination, and originality, which can make up for less than perfect technicals.

So, where does this leave me with your image?

While technically far from perfect, it does grab me. I think it would be a lot stronger with 20-30% cropped off the right.

I like the close crop and the colors, but I wish the shutter speed had been faster. Personally, I think that splash shots are much more interesting when they're really crisp and in focus. 6 for the bold crop and colors.
