Formation of geese heading south. What I found interesting in this shot is that the outline of the bird formation looks like the outline of a bird.

Greetings from the Critique Club };-)

Initial thoughts
Good composition, meets the challenge, color could be a bit more intense

Composition/ Content

I think that the folks that voted this shot low must have never tried photographing moving birds. It is incredibly tough and I think you did a great job. I really like the way you cropped and composed this. The birds seem to be pointing South as well as flying there. I hadn't noticed the bird outline until I read your note. I even like the border. It appears that you caught them in a late afternoon sun as well which warms the bodies of some of the birds.

Background
Gee, couldn't you have moved a nice puffy white cloud in there or something? Just kidding, the background is great.

Camera Work - Technical
Focus seems good and contrast is excellent. It would be nice to be a bit closer but we are probably at the lense limitations.

Digital Processing - Technical
I noticed that you are only at about 100kb. I wonder if a bit closer to the allowed 150kb would have made this even crisper. The only other thing is I would like to see this with a touch more blue in the background. Did you try playing with the hue?

Fits The Challenge
Definitely fits the challenge well.

My Opinion On The Photo I originally scored this shot an aeight. I think it should have finished even higher than it did. Like I said, you've got to try shooting these things before you can really appreciat the shot. Good job, and keep up the good work.

I would be happy to talk further about this shot if you would like to contact me.

Very clear shot, the birds seem to be very far away. Yet there is still detail under the wings and in the head area. Shot with a low sun? The frame enhances the image, not bad at all.

A good comment to the theme and an image of the beauty of nature.

I can assure you this will be in my favorites. I keep missing this photo. By the time I get the camera out, they are gone. This is georgeous and a 10 in my book. PTL
