this is so oldie worldy to be a total joy! there are so many little details to love about this - the karmann ghia makes the shot very period, the lovely cobbles on the street are exceeding, erm, lovely. even the lamppost adds to the overall feel. i might recommend cloning out the notice board - it's just too boxy, ugly, grey and modern to truly fit in. also, bloody stupid comment, but you could clone one of the green bordered cream panels and put it over the frame-less border in the middle. but that's being picky. looks like a lovely cafe, though. 9. |

First of all, I'm on the verge of loving this shot...here's what's stopping me:
Slight angle of the shot, which is most noticeable at the top of the frame.
The crappy reflections on the left window.
The out of focus couple.
The man's face is cut off (are they the subject or aren't they?)
The awkward thing (sign?) behind the top of the lamp post. Could this have been cropped slightly higher?
The good news is, I think I love everything else about this shot (compositionally speaking). If this shot was retaken with the right mood/lighting and some of the above issues fixed, and if it were taken in a way so that the older couple were the subjects and it was assumed that beautiful car was theirs and they were on a date, it would get a 9.
The potential for a very nice photo is here, I hope you get another try! Good eye!

I think I would like it better without the car but it is an interesting shot. |

This photo just doesn't make me want to visit, or turn the page in the brochure. The car is cropped awkwardly, the colors are flat, the man at the table has only half a face and the subject is too much in the center of the picture. It looks very much like a quick snapshot without a lot of thought or planning.
No offense, not trying to be mean spirited. |

Aligning just one side of the window givves the image a weird falling-over feel. A little distortion correction would have fixed that, and it would be worth fixing i think because otherwise I like the shot: good tonality, sense of compositional balance, although I do wish those characters were better framed by the window. Even like the crop on the car - enough of it to know it, and not slvishly including it siply because it's a thing. But that slight sense of giddiness from the curvature undermines the image a little all the time. |

Besides that it's a very nice composed and interresting photo, the first thing I noticed was that the top of the windows are not parallel with the top-border of the photo. Because of the alignment of the vertical lines, I can see why you didn't rotate the photo though. So, I think you should have made a tighter crop at the top.
I really do like the link between the old-fashioned looking car outside and the old people inside the restaurant. |

This is one of those really great shots that I fear will suffer in score on DPC. Keep submitting such great work. 9 |
