 Some sort of sedum, I think. Or something cactus-y. Out at a garden park.

I have other images I like better but my tenuous understanding of the challenge tells me this one best illustrates the concept. We'll see!

PP - cropped, tonemapped in qtpfsgui (pregamma 0.697, mantiuk method, contrast mapping 0.1, saturation factor 1.029, detail factor 1) and lightened and merged in multiply mode, increased saturation and contrast, resized, sharpened, added border.
