Really struggled to find suitable material for this challenge. i thought of this on at the 11th hour!!! The chrome compass is on a CD-R...hence the blue. The flash is bounced off the white ceiling in my studio (bedroom).

Nice demo of camera capability, but...

Very nice, clearly focused, and well composed image. But what guidebook would I find it in?

Overall I like the shot, but I don't think it does a great job of meeting the challenge, as it doesn't really showcase any particular area.

nice picture - colours are particularly pleasant. However, composition wise it's a bit odd - not sure having the left portion cut off and the right side of the surface it's resting on quite works. also, north in the southwest position and the arrow pointing west is a bit disorientating. i think there are certain unwritten protocols with photographing compassessess (compaii?) that have to be considered. dunno. overall the picture is very nice, colours ARE lovely and the focus unquestionably good. fits the challenge also. 6.

It's a COMPASS! (Albeit, a nicely done one.) Doesn't tell me anything about a specific location to visit - would apply to ALL of them. Unless, maybe, the travel guide was highlighting local businesses and Eddie Bauer's HQ was there. :-)

This is a really well done product shot that I just couldn't conceive of being in a travel guide. That said, I wish I could get silver product shots to look this good.

Excellent lighting on a quality instrument. Don't believe many travel guides would use this though - except as an advertisement

Unusual take on the challenge. Great photo.

I really like this as it has a stock photography feel to it. The "break-the-rules" cropping style also sets this photo apart from the rest. Excellent work! 10

I don't get it

A very nice take on the challenge. The blue tones in the lighting really compliment the chrome of the compass IMO, and great detail on the actual mechanics.

I'm not sure. Take an image that represents an area ... or detail studies that might be used in a travel guide book ...
Is this the "dedail studies"?
Anyway it could be in a tourist guide and it is a great picture of a compass so this will be one of the many highscore I have to give in this challenge!

I am a sucker for the simplistic approach. Nice shot.

Well, it *is* a travel guide! Some people think a lot more creatively than me. Great coloration and shapes. Good luck in the challenge.

Now that is something I was expecting to see. Not the compass specifially, but someone or something that would 'act' as a tour guide. Well done
