The Gulf Islands just between Vancouver Island and the British Columbia mainland - in Canada.

This is the view from the ferry ride to Victoria from the mainland. The BC ferry fleet is the largest in the world, and this particular ride takes you through the Gulf Islands into Swartz Bay.

Love the black and white! I really like how you have all tones in this image from very bright white to completely black. That's what a true black and white photo is. This is almost a complete silhouette image which I really like. Just enough detail in the water to keep your interest along with the very nice silhouette look. Love that you used the rule of thirds for the boat and put the horizon just about in the middle. I'm sure you will also have some that don't like the frame but I like it very much. I probably wouldn't like the frame on a color version of this but I think it really adds to this B&W version.

I am sure that you have gotton a ton of bitching over your border choice, but I think that the image itself is beautiful! The border itself doesn't bug me, but you would have rated MUCH better without one. I have just learned from the same thing.

Would make a beautiful print up on a wall. Absolutely love it.

The center-placed horizon does it's job as adding the element of serenity or tranquility to the composition. Great job.

Nice range of tones in the sky. I think I would've boosted the midtones just a little higher to soften some of the pure black in the bottom right and silhouette of the land.

Lovely picture, but why go black and white with this? I bet it had wonderful color.

Should have cloned or cropped off that little bit of white peeking out of the clouds in the top right. Still a 10 from me. One of my favorites in the challenge.

great b/w. i really like how the hills contain multiple shades. i also like the bold solid white border. it seems to fit well.
