Sorry I was wrong. Really thought this would have done better. It is exceptional for the travel guide challenge. Can't believe I was one of only 7 tens. |

beautiful sunset and nice reflections, but the horizon looks crooked or bowed |

Very nice. It would also be fun to see a shot where the reflection takes most of the frame. 9 |

This is one of my favorites this challenge -- I like the graduated light and leading lines you've captured. I think I would like more light on the Monument than in the sky. It's a bit understated given the title and the theme. BOL |

What dad did you shoot this? I was down with a friend on Saturday. The sky looks right which makes me think we just missed you. :) Nice color! Not sure I like the angle. The trees throw it a bit off balance. Good job getting people on the steps. |

The sky is amazing. I noticed a couple of spots in the water that look strange but other than that this is an excellent photo. |

returning for comments
This is a very good comp. i like it. However, when you begin to see pure yellows back off...the adjustment has gone to far. To make the foreground more interesting, you could have selected the water reflection and treated it with levels to boost up the luminescense. I would use a feather value of 10 pixel or so. Bumping up to nect level for great comp. |

Quite a dramatic sky! Nicely done, considering you still managed to get the monument well-exposed. I was hoping to get a similar shot when I was there last winter, but the pool was empty at the time. |

Really nice image; spectacular sunset. Hmmm... is DC really about the scenery and weather? Most images would have shown the sitting Lincoln figure all lit up ... Maybe the DC C of C should think about YOUR viewpoint once in awhile. Might take the dirty politics out of everyone's mental thought processes when thinking about traveling to Washinton - there ARE lots of historical and artistic attractions. Congratulations on a really nice image. |

Great timing, you've got an awesome sunset there. I wish the memorial was just a tad sharper. And I bet you'll get a few negative comments on the border (me, I think it's fine ... if anything maybe just a tad too thick, but others I'm sure will complain). Good luck on the challenge! |

that's a nice picture - I like the color transition in the sky - would have been cool to get it in the reflection too! |

Great sunset. Tthe subject is a little blurred though or just not enough of the focus in the overall picture. I might have zoomed in a little and skipped the reflection of the pond since it is not that dramatic, at least compared to the sunset. But shat a sunset capture! |

Your subject seems rather relegated in importance in this shot by that sunset. I know many folks are interpreting this challenge more as 'travel brochure' than guide, but I can't see this being even effective advertising for the location. Perhaps, as a subversive ironic entry it has some merit, but more in the point you're making than the score I'm afraid. |

Wow. The sky....!!! Last July I took some pictures in the same place but nothing to do with your amazing shot. I love it. One of my favorites for a ribbon. |
