 I made this image during the Republican National Convention protests, on August 28th. Protesters gathered in Centennial Park for a march against voter suppression. Afterwards, several members of the black bloc group, labeled (at times by themselves) as anarchist extremists, laid down on the ground and formed a human quilt. The human quilt is used as a protest strategy to cause congestion in the protest area.

In this case, the human quilt was used as a form of bonding and camaraderie among the protesters. The moment I saw this woman wrapped up among her friends, I made several frames, this being my favorite of them all.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Full on festival fever! Great sense of life here and the clarity of the reflection in those sunglasses anchors the image superbly. I like how difficult it is to separate one person from another.

Critical stuff: Not much at all.

Overall: Great documentary stuff. I'm particularly impressed by your toning.
