Congratulations on the ribbon. I love the light glowing through the flag. Sometimes a 'plain' subject well done has great impact - as this does. |

in my opinion, the processing on this image takes it from "meh, its decent" to " i really like this". Nicely done start to finish |

Interesting thought. I probably would have scored a foreign flag higher, simply because we see American flag shots quite often. So it doesn't necessarily stir patriotism in me. And a foreign flag would probably have received the "unique" factor in voting.
That being said, I think this shot is more about the placement of the light, the backlit clouds and interesting sky more than the flag itself. And I like the lines of the ropes going up the pole.
But it is an interesting thought to ponder.
(congrats on the yellow, btw!! :)

Oh say can you see... great light!! Love how you exposed for the highlights with that super high shutter speed and let the rest of the darker tones fall where they may! Also the vignetting in post helped the mood tremendously! Nice work! |

I really like this one. The texture of the fabric. The blue of the flag against the gray sky. Half staff. |
