 #10 ND filter & my trusty black umbrella between the camera & the rose.

It was clear strong sunlight near the middle of the day. The light only has to be stronger on the other side of the umbrella. The places where the rose is touching the umbrella make the sharper edges, the darker colors. If I could add a soundtrack to this, blackbirds singing would be perfect.

Interesting how it fades away the more distant the petals get from the umbrella.
