 I tried for two nights with various different angles.
I originally wanted the light to be shining through her hair, but I couldn't get it right.
Luckily she just likes getting involved in these sort of things.
Anyway, I was just sitting her there to get an idea on angles and lights, I was going to have her reading a book and looking over her shoulder.
But as I was looking through the lens I saw how the light cast the shadow on the face mask ($25 from TJmaxx!!!) and I thought it looked pretty cool.
I ended up taking about 100 different shots and this was my final submission!
The light source was just my desk lamp angled down.
Cropped-saturation.

I like the way you composed the shot, but I don't like the orange cast - it makes it look like hell fire or something. I think I would have liked it better in b/w.

on my screen the image appears to be quite dark. i like the juxtaposition of the subjects and the aura of mystery in this capture. i feel that the backlighting aspect could be stronger, and would probably result in a better overall composition.
