|This wasn't exactly what I had in mind but it turned out better than I expected. Although I planned the light spill, I'm not pleased with the lamp stand in the middle of the second window, but I'd already invested too much time (and struck the set) by the time I really noticed it.
I thought about what windows are used for - to look into and out of places - but didn't want to make the image that literal. I wanted to create something dreamy and fantasy-driven, and imagined what someone who felt trapped might dream of. In a dark, windowless room, the promise of blue skies and freedom lie just beyond the glass. The second window adds a bit of ambiguity, how freedom can be a double-edged sword.
This was all done in one afternoon, except for the sky in the main window, which was shot two days earlier with my cell phone. Originally, there was going to be a second person, and only the one window on the chair. But it turns out we had a second window with mullions and I wanted to use it, and the second person cluttered up the image.

I should have called this Thoughts of Freedom....
