Place 39/46...HEY I'LL TAKE IT!!! :) That fact that this is my first challenge, and trust me, I had the shivers to even try it. But as for the score, love it. It just let's me know and gives me a reason to improve and where I can improve. I am happy with the score and the guts to display this because I just love photography. I have seen posts on everyone complining about their scores. WHY? I see this is an old fashioned, the way it used to be, sport. I play the sport (in my case, photography) becuase it's fun.
And not just for the money (in which case would be, scores). :)
Thank you all for being there and sharing your comments. You are all who I look up to. |

Adrian, you are going to improve so much very quickly. You have a great, positive, learning attitude, and clearly a wicked imagination. As others have pointed out, the only real issue here is the clutter - The stuff on the fridge, the wires, the stove top, etc. Also, it's very crowded. Study set-up shots and you'll note they've made space for the subject. This might mean moving stuff around. Actually, it DOES mean moving stuff around :-)
Once you have a set up, look through your viewfinder and see if there is anything distracting in the background (shadows, something shiny, dust bunnies - backgrounds are very sneaky). Finally, don't assume that standing in front of the subject is the best shooting angle. get down low, step up on a stool, move to the left and the right, experiment with different points of view. Many times straight on is more powerful that looking down on something, simply because it is not a "normal" pov.
And congrats on your first challenge - an expert editing one at that! |

Welcome & congratulations on your first challenge entry. I hope you continue to practice the art of telling a story with a photo. Keep on commenting--considering the works of others really does a lot to help you be critical of your own work. |

Voted earlier coming back to comment.
Mmmmm, warm ORANGE JUICE!!!! I don't think it would taste all that good hot but it might be a nice scent that permeates throughout the house:-) This shot has potential if you just got rid of the clutter so the focus can stay on the coffee pot, the cup and the coffee pitcher pouring juice into the cup. The composition would also be stronger if the whole pitcher was in the frame so that the orange color of the orange juice would be even more noticable. |

Subtle, but effective. There is too much clutter in this photo to be great, but the idea is sound. |
