"Purple haze all in my brain
Lately things just don't seem the same
Actin' funny, but I don't know why
Excuse me while I kiss the sky"
This photo was inspired by the Song "Purple Haze" and the 1967 Album "Are You Experienced?" by Jimi Hendrix. The guitar pictured is my left handed (because I am, which fits with the theme) Schecter Tempest Semi-Hollow, a very Hendrix-esque guitar. At first I was going to use, suprise, Purple Smoke, but I thought with the Purple backdrop on the guitar, the yellow smoke fit better. The Album cover, if you look, is purple and yellow. Unfortunately, that might draw down my rating, because it's "Purple Haze" and the smoke is yellow. Oh well, it'll make sense once voting ends :\
I set my guitar on a purple silk shirt I found and used black seamless photo paper on the desk and in the background. I then Let off a smoke bomb in a tupperware container and used a fan on low to let the smoke dissapate. It took 2 smoke bombs, about 12 shots for each, and a lot of coughing, but I finally got it right, and I was satisfied with the effect.
If you look carefully, you can see sort of a head near the top of the guitar, that resembles the face of Hendrix. Also, on the neck near the body on the right side, you can sort of make out a hand and fingers placed onto the strings. Cool, huh? The spirit of Jimi lives on.
Note: This photo has been cropped, but beyond that, it is unedited. Yeah, I'm a purist. Oh well.
Thanks for viewing my shot!
