 This shot was OK; lighting and pose were great but the background was nothing to write home about. So I got creative and replaced it (didn't reprocess for this side challenge). Loved the result. It is now hanging as a 36" x 24" canvas in my living room.

Oh, the model is my oldest Irish Wolfhound, Holly. She is my very favorite IW head study model. Although she may have a serious rival when puppy Lido matures.

The light is fab! Love how the background echos the texture of the dogs fur. This really is a super nice portrait.

Well done Mary. Holly gave you an excellent portrait, she looks very imposing. Important. The light is gentle, but revealing. Love the little catchlight in her eye. No wonder it's hanging on the wall!

Wonderful portrait, Mary - lighting is great and so is the detail. You did a great job with the background replacement, too, turning this from what may well have been a serendipitous snapshot into something worthy of being printed large and on canvas and hung. Tones are very nice, too.

Wow! I love everything about this! It is so painterly! First, I love wolf hounds. They are my favorite dog! I grew up with a russian wolfhound. Awesome dog and huge! I love the blue duotone. It just fits for some reason. Also the light and the pose on the dog makes this a majestic pet portrait!
