I used to work in animation, and I would always make fun of the lighting artists because they would make these incredibly bright "god rays" that I thought were so beyond realistic that they looked dumb.

This was taken on my side porch and is 100% unedited straight from the camera. Not only that but I remember it being even brighter than what the camera was able to capture.

After taking this photo I suppose I should apologize to them for making realistic god rays.

I love a sky like that - so glad you got a shot. This sky is more dramatic than those I usually see.

Thanks for the notes. I call these 'cathedral sunbeams.' I see them fairly frequently but you almost have to have the camera in your hand & be ready to go, because they don't last long. This is lovely, shining down on someone's home.

I always seem to see those rays pointing at something perfectly ordinary like this. I want them to illuminate a church steeple, or a monument, or something grand. Someday ...
