This is not sharp, & to my eye, now, it's not blurry enough. I shoot outdoors, where it's usually windy, so my shots usually lack the razor sharpness & precise light of a studio shot. But I don't care. I'm fascinated with the circular symmetry, the curving lines, the shadows, the challenge of getting the color right. This little poppy was only about 2 in in diameter, swaying in the wind on its long slender stem. If I was shooting it now, I would've gone for motion blur rather than lack of focus blur.

It's from the month of May. Nothing happened worth keeping in the month of August.

i think you are right in that it is not blurry enough - it looks more missed rather than purposeful.

And that would be the right move. The colours would create a really cool image depending on the blur. This is your forte, so I'm sure you could pull it off.

I like the focus - just soft and glowy, not distractingly oof or anything. The colours are very pretty, especially as they pop against their complimentary background.
I think I share your sentiments about technical perfection, some times it's great, but it's not always necessary, sometimes not even desirable and definitely not the be all and end all of creating a pleasing image.

The light and colors are gorgeous and as Richard says, parts are in focus - it was swaying and the shifting focus reinforces that.

The yellow to orange gradient is attractive. Some parts are in focus, here and there. I like it fine.

green background causes the orange flower to stand out very nicel.
