This is a stitch of 9 images.

Portland, OR has a large river that run through the middle of the city. There are 10 bridges that cross this river and once a year a charity bike ride allows you to cross all 10 bridges, closing many of them to traffic for the morning. It's not a good day for driving.

The bike ride is the only chance I get to photograph this particular bridge because it normally has eight lanes of freeway traffic on it.

Very true, only the upper deck was accessible, the lower was still open to traffic, and damn I just realized I misspelled the bridge in my own city!

Even with your explanation of the stitch and the larger version, I cannot quite figure this out. Doesn't matter at all, though - it's way cool. I love the lines of the bridge and the way that they are tied together at the sides with the throngs of cyclists.
