 Denhams Bustard
This species is estimated to be undergoing a moderately rapid population decline owing to hunting pressure and conversion of grassland habitat for agriculture, and it is therefore classified as Near Threatened.
Seen whilst counting large birds from the car for the Adu. We count large birds twice a year on a set route we are given all participants get a different route and the count is carried out all over the country.

(TeeHee) I read that bird's name too fast the first time, and substituted an extra "a" for the "u".

Good shot considering the handicap of shooting from the car.

I like the patterns of the flowers/grasses showing off the bird. You must have made this one also from rather far away. There's a fair bit of pixelation in the photo. I like the compo though.

A great find and a very nice capture .. when will we ever learn that we need to protect our fellow inhabitants on this poorly stewarded plant? I love that you included so much of it's habitat - sometimes that's better (more interesting too) than just having a close up of the bird.
