Even though I took this in week 1 I'm submitting it for my week 4. It was my FS entry but I decided to enter a lower scoring but a bit of fun photo.

This is my daughter walking our dog on Maianbar Rd.

Lovely bw tones. She looke like a swimmer. So here's fantasy vs reality. I wish our daughter was still home and we had a dog. But she's off on her own and we have allergies to animal hair.

Good tones and good story.

Again a delightful story-telling image.
The graceful girl following a well-defined path;
the dog wanting more space to roam.

Pretty much ditto to all the other comments, notably peoples backs are not usually interesting but the road angle adding to the overall composition over rides this. The term for the "halo" in the hair due to back lighting is Rim-light.

I didn't know the term "hairlight" (' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', '/') + 1) . ' bsluijk), but I did notice and was going to comment on the very nice rim backlighting which I think is the same thing. The curve of the road, emphasized by the painted lines, is very well used.

Beautiful halo of light around the girl's head and shoulders!

Great textbook example of a hairlight, and how that nicely separates the subject from the background. Like the leading lines, nicely fitting the subject(s).

Love the leading lines everywhere. I think this is excellent in BW. The blown out sky adds a beautiful glow to her hairline.

What I like about the PAW side challenge is the opportunity to show the images that are meaningful to me, whether or not I think they'd do well in a challenge. I think it's improving my ability to see.

Now that I'm finished talking about myself....this is a beautiful slice of life. A sweet moment between the two of them.

Wonderful composition, leading lines and bw tones. They look to be communicating the way their heads are turned to each other.

I like how her head is tilted down to look at the dog. It seems to curve along with the road and causes the sun to shine in her hair at an interesting angle too.

I like the patterns on her shoe and how you see the whole sole - the twisted up bit of leash in her hand also adds interest - the light shining in her hair is lovely too .. a nice slice of life that is often missed as we rush about.

Nice one. Normally I'm not fond of images of people's backs, but I like this one, especially by the lines of the road leading the eye to that blown-out sky. I also like the B&W here.
