I just couldn't resist entering this.

Shot a similar photo a few days ago. Just fooling around on the back porch. Then I decided I really liked this and wanted to enter it. So I decided to re-shoot. This time we added the full soccer attire and soccer ball to make sure that it fit the challenge. Patrick's soccer season ended a few weeks ago, and hockey does not begin for a few more. So, OK. So it's not an action shot, but it does portray a team sport. There were many that I liked, but chose this one as his expression was great and BG was better suited to a real action shot. I'll post some out-takes after.

Shot using my 18-55mm (kit) @ 18mm. Very close up to get that oversized feel to the face. I got the idea from walking past a Winner's store in Montreal. They had a series of ads in their windows that features these type of wide-angle from above portraits. I liked it and decided to try it myself. My son can never keep a straight face in photos. He's a joker. It was perfect.

PS7: slight crop, saturation, contrast, resize, USM, save, submit.

I can't believe how low this scored. Okay, it's not action, but it was one of my favourites in this challenge.

LOL...great perspective! I believe it meets the challenge. Voters didn't really take the time to understand the shot. You did good!

I thought this was good! It's shot very well technically, and I think it meets the challenge very well. I really didn't expect it to be way back here in the results!

This is pretty scary!! :-O . It looks like it's a little overexposed or I would have rated it higher. Awesome greens in the backround. 6.

A really fun photograph! I hope you print and frame this one, or put in the family album - it will be super for this boy to share with his family/friends. Certainly made me smile.

Pretty nice image, I think ... (while I try to ponder photographic technique vs. thos hideous teeth) :-) It just emphasizes something other than the actual sport; ie: fighting with the ref over a call. Really great expression and perspective though. Good luck with the challenge.

No doubt this one gets an instant laugh. It certainly makes an impact. You could just about crop it aroud the young fella's face and make an image out of that. I'm imagining his face in black and white with a touch of noise added. His eyes nose and brow are really expresive. This image does kind of grow on ya. Good Luck.

I like the humor factor in this shot, but sneering is not IMO an action. Sorry.

Very well focused, good color. Can't say I care much for the teeth. Also, I just couldn't make myself give the same scores to the still shots and the action shots. I felt the action shots demonstrated a higher skill level and therefore deserved a higher score.

The kid has wonderful facial expression and the shot is fantastic, but the teeth ruined it for me.

shoot it

I think without the teeth and a bit more real expression on his face this would have gone realy high, I like the POV and the DOF, but the teeth just take away from it.
