 Those in warmer climates may not appreciate the brisk winds that tear through our layers of clothing and chill us to the bones. In fact, it's hard to appreciate those winds when living in a northern climate as well, until seeing a photo that displays the beauty hidden behind the veil of frost bite.

I really low the way this turned out. You can see the wind coming from the right, up the drift, and sending snowing flying to the left. Nature is always beautiful, even when she is trying to kill you :)

This was shot with 30mph winds and 10F temps, providing a super frigid windchill. Couple that with the fact that the wind is booing snow at the lens, quickly filling up the lens hood with snow. Moreover, the focus had to be manual as focusing on the snow bank automatically was impossible. These things made this shot a lot more challenging than it looks.

I thought it was gonna do much better because it's a great b&w and it actually does show wind/breeze unlike a few others that scored higher. I was your 7. Oh well, DPC :/ Sorry.

8 from me was great shot, i was out in the snow as well capturing the howling wind, i had my thermal boiler suit on though :)

Not easy to do. I'd like to have seen more detail in the drift, but the snow is frozen in motion. Good to have the dark trees in the background to accentuate the contrast.
