I shot this with an Olympus 35 RC rangefinder. The camera comes from the 70s. I was using kodak ultramax color film and converted the scan to BW. Pretty low quality scan though unfortunately

nice B & W conversion. I like the lighting on the face. Love it when I get to see the origionals too.,

At this size, the scan looks quite good.

Funny how sometimes you only notice something when another points it out. Now that I know the hand is mirroring the lines in his face I wouldn't want the hand to be removed. Its a timely capture that has lots of character.

I do think you lost a lot of detail on the right cheek and upper lip and esp on the nose in the conversion. I would re-do the conversion but keep an eye on those areas so you can erase whatever effects cause that blown-out look. I like the overall image a lot - great focus and expression on the main subject.

Great choice with going with B/W. It hands character to the man with the pursed lips.

Pls take note of the line of the man's cheek that is defined by the shadow of the hand. I find that essential and sorely lacking in the cloned version where the shape of his face is lost - as the impact that is so pleasing here.

I have a snow day tomorrow so I should have some time :)
