A strange fog rolled through the Outerbanks this afternoon, shrouding everything in a misty gloom. This image was captured in Kill Devil Hills, NC on Monday afternoon, March 19, 2012.
--------------------------------------------
I titled it as a nod to one of my favorite poets, e.e. cummings (Edward Estlin Cummings), who wrote one of my favorite poems Originally posted by e.e. cummings: maggie and millie and molly and may
maggie and millie and molly and may
went down to the beach (to play one day)
and maggie discovered a shell that sang
so sweetly she couldn't remember her troubles, and
millie befriended a stranded star
whose rays five languid fingers were;
and molly was chased by a horrible thing
which raced sideways while blowing bubbles: and
may came home with a smooth round stone
as small as a world and as large as alone.
For whatever we lose (like a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in the sea. |
Here's a nice article that analyzes the poem, as well as recaps cumming's background.
Natalie Merchant turned it into an incredible song; you can enjoy it here

as for dpc, well, who knows...i'll hope for a 5.25
and i'll be interested to see who makes the connection with the title...
i had a few others that i'd considered, but we'll get to those later. |

I love all the negative space. It is kind of overwhelming and makes the person look more lonely and lost. So does the weather. Great image! |

Beautiful minimalism. I particularly love the softness of the sky. |
