 This exposure was taken with flash. The smoke was created with oud converged through a funnel. On top of the funnel, Shuttle cock was placed to get the pattern.

critique club.

i good attempt at the typical smoke shot.

however what makes those other types of images great and this one is that the smoke is way to turbulent, smoke images that do well have very clean laminar flow that slowly transitions to turbulent. yours starts at the end of that transition phase and goes right into full blown turbulence.

there is also not enough negative space, is the composition is dead center leaving an unpleasing composition.

the smoke in my opinion is best used as a back drop to show color and the color is great, the pattern was a interesting attempt, unfortunately the smoke being too turbulent draws you away from that.

Add a little red in there and you have the good ol' red white and blue! Nice smoke trail and attractive blue.

Very mesmerizing image you have here.
It's like there's a message in the smoke but I can't find it.
I'm going to keep looking though until I find it.

Looks like maybe you oversharpened your smoke. i think edits that allow the smoke to stay soft and smooth work better. These type of shots just dont do it for me. Needs to be stellar to stand out, especially with so many to compare to.
