Nice expression on the kid and all the elements are there that tell what's happening. The arm, however, is an odd element--its awkward angle is only accentuated by the too bright light and the lack of focus. I think a greater depth of field would have helped...the picture makes me want to look at what he's looking at, but when I get to the ball I'm forced back to his face.

Very nice, but the angle of the shot makes it look like the arm is bending backward. Love the lighting. It's hard to get the face properly exposed under a baseball cap. Good work.

The point of this challenge was to avoid blurs. Unfortunately, here the ball and the arm are blurred. You needed a fast shutter speed.

I think the ball should be in focus instead of the boy, it appears as if the ball is moving.

good idea, but would be slightly more interesting if you had photographed it higher in the air, during his swing (there isn't much to anticipate in this particular pose). i would also prefer slightly greater DOF, but that's simply a matter of personal taste. good work.

Nice composition. Unfortunately, the DOF choice here leaves the objects that are in motion (arm and ball) out of focus, kinda defeating the idea of "Stop Motion".

focus should be on the ball for this challenge

cool idea but the lack of DOF kills it a bit since the stop action is supposed to be at the heart of the concept

Good idea. Different from most shots in challenge. I like the angle you selected but think that widening the shot out a little to include all the racket head would have made this a slightly stronger composition. It looks like you had some fairly strong light here as the details along the arm seem blown out; the face and white shirt, however, retain some detail and those are the more important elements IMO. Nice use of DoF to direct the viewer's attention to the subject's face.

As the challenge was about capturing motion, I would suggest the ball should be in focus and not the boy. It is the ball that is "stopped".

I really like this shot and think the focus on the eyes is excellent. For this particular challenge, I think it would be better if the object in motion were also in focus, but that would have been hard for this shot and I like the overall image the way you shot it. Very nice job.

did you try one where the ball is in focus and the kid is not... just a suggestion
