A $2.00 craft scalpel and some fake blood and there ya go! You can see the discolouration from the fake blood on the tip of my finger.
Very little post shot processing. Desat blue to remove colour ring at base of blade. Rotate 10deg cw and crop out rest of hand. resize and unsharp mask then save 4 web.

Bob, I guess the 'urgh' factor is not a good thing on DPC, I was a little disapointed with my placement with a variation of the same idea, your pic deserves much higher placement than what it got

All of these knife and pin prick shots definitely make me shudder so I guess they are effective in meeting the challenge. This is an effective shot - not neccessarily one I'd like to hang in my living room, but a decent shot. The finger seems a bit soft, though.

I think this is one of the more sublte of the self mutilation shots in this challenge. Great compostion and fine detail....thanks for minimalizing the gore. I appreciate it!

Would be better with a different light source or direction. The finger is a bit out of focus. Good idea!

Its a good composition, but a little more focus would have helped...
