This is clearly a superb photo. The key to its success in my view is that you got close to the action so that the viewer feels involved. You have captured brilliantly lots of detail and were round far enough to get the face in view.
The composition is strong too. If there is any fault then it may be that the background does not hold much interest. Perhaps if the bird had a target in view or if the scenery was particularly beautiful it would have helped.
The bird's stance is particularly interesting though, showing a nice fan of feathers and nice feet!

| Great shot but I seriously think you have made a mistake by choosing this subject. The previous winner (Stopped Motion 1) was a shot of a flying seagull, and if any members are aware of this fact I think they will make it down for obvious reasons. |

| A really great photo showing stopped motion of the landing gull. Great dof. The muted colors really work for this background. Excellent cropping of this shot, it shows me where the gull is landing. Having taken (attempted) many photos of flying birds, I know how diffilcult a good photo like this is to get! Sorry I can't vote, only registered. I would give you a 10. |
