Hi
For those who wanted to see the whole series and a whole eruption, I've uploaded some to my portfolio
The geyser Strokkur
For example:
and the original, out of which I cropped the final pic

Nope. Took me about 5 tries to get this image. An eruption takes less than a second to from start to a full blown eruption.
I just might add some more images from this series into my portfolio soon.
My 10d does 3.3 fps and I just started shooting when I thought it might start to erupt. Got some very nice series from flat, to a low bulge to this and then to a full blown eruption

Darn. I didn't read the rules closely enough. I thought all dodgeing and cloneing was off-limits. (note to self: always read the fine print)
Well, anyway, I had no time to do any editing except a very rough crop and my computer wasn't on its best behavior and photoshop kept on crashing.

Great capture. I don't think I've EVER seen this before. I've seen a lot of full blown geysers, but never the beginning. Thank you. |

This is an interesting image. The more I look at it, the more fascinating I find the photo. Where is this, Yeollowstone or New Zealand orsomewhere else? It seems you captured the rush of air directly under the surfacr of the water. Great photo. |

Amazing stop action photography here. Too bad you weren't able to eliminate the ropes in the background, but you caught it at the right time. |

This is phenomenal! Too bad about the ropes in the background...and have you tried this in BW? A zoom in might help...but it's just so damn cool!!

The background and the ropes compete with the image. Perhaps a bit more contrast would help the bubble stand out. I know you were also fighting the steam which makes contrast and sharpness look low. Howver, the bubble abouit to burst is really a good catch. 6 |

Im not sure of the whole process of the geyser blowing, or how quickly this happens.. but it is a fascinating shot. I just wish you used the full 640 pixels :( |

yes! i love it! the subject that is, the picture feels like it has a fairly careless composition (cropped too far on the left, it includes the path and ropes, etc. a dark unobtrusive background to contrast the water would make this incredible! |

Nice catch. I might have darkened it a bit and I wish it were a bit larger, but a great shot nonetheless. |
