I found this spot early on Saturday. The light was nice, the view was great, and the sky was...empty. But I got some nice looking shots. Not great, but passable.

Then when heading out for a little hike, I noticed the sky was full of puffy clouds. I quickly made a decision to return to this spot to shoot it under midday sun, with the clouds in the sky. What a great decision. The depth offered by the cloud creates a much more dynamic and interesting scene. Plus, I used a polarizing filter to really make the white puffs pop against the blue sky.

I had earlier edited the shot from the morning, and saved the edit as a preset in Silver Efex. Upon starting the editing of this photo, I used the same preset. I tweaked a few settings to work better with this light, and came out with a result I'm proud of. Sure, it's no mountain scene, but this is pretty much as good as it gets around here.

Unusual perspective, with the river coming from both sides. It's true, the clouds do round off the image nicely.

Funny how this very basic scene has so much appeal. Lighting has much to do with this and love the strong backlighting in it and the blacks in those "dead trees" etc with the white clouds contrasted well. The river generates a calm mood here in a seemingly lifeless enviroment. A cyclic story to be told here
