 After my trip to Florida I had a few different images to chose from. I had a gross (but funny) factor image and one had a wow factor but my heart kept taking me back to this one. I figure I will finid in the lower third to the middle of the pack but I really had to push myself to take this. I am not comfortable taking pictures of people and I knew when I saw this fisherman that I should try. Then the pelican joined in and I managed to capture both of them.

I thought this was a terrific catch - pun intended. Gave it an 8, ran out of time for bumps - should probably have been higher. I adore the timing and the selective focus.

This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)

Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.

This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. Such superb execution of timing and focus is always compelling - you have it in spades here.

2. Perfect DOF - we have isolation of subject but with enough background context to ground the image within the wider environment.

3. Your image has a really pleasing colour palette too.

Overall, this is a standout bird-in-flight-shot.
