 I must admit, I love the title probably more than the photo in this case. It's a homage to the classic text based adventure game Zork. I remember back in the mid 90s when my parents bought me a collection of 30 text adventures. What a cool way to play games! Ad now you can play them online for free. //thcnet.net/zork/index.php

The photo was a simple setup, but hard to get exactly what I wanted. I think I took about 40 frames (and wasting a dozen matches) to get this one.

I lit this with two flashes. Form the left is a flash with a honeycomb, and from the right is a flash with a snoot. This gave me a very small area of light to play with.

I stuck each match in a hole in a 2x4, then lit with a lighter. After the first two I found that lighting at the bottomed and letting the flame move up was much more effective than the other way around. Then I just had to get the smoke right :)
