It is Durian*,very notorious for it's smell, banned in public places throughout southern asia{known as a king's fruit. The candy, cakes, and other recipes make it better, though never cut into it within your own home.I had some and the texture was almost like pudding, though think of garlic mixed with Bm and you now know the smell. |

And STINKY!!!! Those look like durian to me. My friend, who is Chinese, brought a durian to the office one time, and we all tried it. Takes ok, I kinda started to like it after the 3rd time I had one or so, but smells horrid. Like rotting flesh or something. I wonder where you took this picture? The writing looks like arabic or something middle eastern.
Anyway, great picture of a REALLY wacky really real food. Most people don't have any idea how weird and wacky this fruit really is. Another fun fact about durian: The trees are extremely dangerous to have around. If a durian falls on you, it could easily kill you. They weigh around 25 pounds or so, at least the ones I've had. |

3500 yen for something I don't even know how to eat? I don't think so. ;-) Seroiusly, this is a great subject for the challenge. My only suggestion would be to come in closer so that we don't even see the background items - just these wacky fruit. Still, this is a nice shot that meets the challenge well. |

Fits the challenge wonderfully, but this photo has too much of a snapshot feel to it. A little extra time in setting up your shot would have helped, in my opinion. 4. |

And stinky ... don't you wish this was scratch and sniff so you can really show how wacky this thing is? Good job. |
