So -- there are textures on this, obviously, but otherwise it's just advanced editing. The moon is really there and that size.
I'm in the Williamsburg photography group, but I get meetup info from all over the area, and I saw this notice:
"For anyone that has not had their fill of Yorktown Beach events, here is another.
On Thursday, Sept. 19th, there is a full moon at 7:13AM. Unfortunately, this is after it has already set. On a positive note, it rises again 7:08PM and while it may not be full, it will be very close. As of right now, the weather looks good, 82 degrees with scattered clouds. If not too thick, I think clouds can really enhance a moon photo. In my humble opinion of course. :)
I plan on going up there to try and capture the moon rising on the horizon. If I get lucky, I can get the schooner returning from it's sunset cruise in the picture. If I get REALLY lucky, I will be able to get the silhouette of the schooner or a sailboat in front of the moon. Too optimistic?"
So, I waited... with a slew of other photographers. And the moon rose. And it did really cool things over the water!! It stretched, and was really quite funky.
Anyway, the schooner got closer and closer, and we kept saying "go! go! go!!", and luckily there was still part of the ship that went in front of the moon. I was worried that it would miss it completely!
It'd post the original, and funky shapes that the moon took on while rising, but I'm in Vermont with ja-9!
Thanks for the votes and comments!!
oh -- I had a version with a stamp edge -- but I thought it really detracted, so I put it in this way. After all, I haven't seen perforated stamps in years! :)
