No bees were hurt during the making of this photo. These are my own bees which were chilled in the fridge to slow their metabolism down enough for me to be able to photograph them. The halogen lights I was using to light them soon warmed them up so I had to keep popping them back in the fridge.

The highkey effect was deliberate to mimic a trend I have seen in glossy food mags. And the label on the tin was scanned, modified in PS, printed and stuck back on the tin. As I was a bit knackered at the time I printed on the wrong side of the paper but didn't realise until I was shooting the final image. So it looks a bit under saturated, but maybe that adds to the overall effect. ??????????

Final image was cropped and levelled in PS.

Ewww. You go first. Unusual, but effective, take on the challenge. The whitebackround works well but it merges with the plate in several spots. Exposure seems to be right on.

This makes me shudder. But nice creativity! I'm not too sure if I like excessive white, yet. I'll have to come back to the image and study it a little more. For now, 7.

Great idea, very wacky indeed. Seems a bit overexposed, I can't see the edge of the dish near the top.

Sorry. i don't like the subject. I don't see beez as food. ):
Also, IMHO, there is too much light.

I love the set up of this one. The lighting just seems to be a tad harsh.

Overall though I think you did a great job, nice idea.

Good. Where did you get all the bees? I like the label on the can too. Only thing I don't like is all the white, white plate, white background. Needs a little color somewhere.

A little too overexposed.. the plate is fading on the background. But it's a very good idea.
