Great photo. I honestly can't remember if I read the book, or if I was supposed to and I just heard the lecture on it. From what I remember, people were being produced instead of natural selection. If that is the case, then somehow making tiny human footprints with the "blood" would have taken this up a notch.
Still gave it an 8 |

wow. graphic.
i have to say that the 'blood' just doesn't do it for me.
even if something came out of the egg, i don't get the blood coating it, nor the bloody footprints.
a 4 from me as it just doesn't fit |

I see what you've tried to do here, with 'birth' being the idea.
I've hatched too many chickens to buy this. Humans and horses bleed, chickens just come out slightly damp.
With that being said, birth was a theme in the book but it was really quite different than this image conveys. A test tube would have gotten far more love from me.
5 (and only because it is a decent image technically) |

I read this book 50 years ago, and at first I didn't remember that controlled births were a part of it. Now having researched Huxley and his attitudes, I see how this could fit. The image has the uncomfortable feel of a botched abortion, or in this case, the one that got away. Quite disturbing, as I understand Huxley felt about America. So, assuming it was your intention to graphically illustrate a grotesque form of birth control, it succeeds. The white environment has an anticeptic look whe the ketchup serves well enough. But the overall effect is too blunt and two dimensional in the context of the sophistication of the book. 5 |

4...it just looks too much like ketchup to me. Having watched chicks come forth, I don't remember it being nearly this bloody...or should I say ketchupy. I kid. : D More dramatic/directional lighting may have been a good choice for this...would have been less scientific looking, but it would have created some nice atmosphere. |

Ok -- this one works. You're supposed to draw inspiration from a novel. So either representating the novel or something with the same heart as the novel works for me.
This works for me. Simple, kinda creepy and gross, but intriguing. -8- |

Nice try but far from the original idea. Good use of lightning, composition but does not tell me much. 4 |

chilling. as it should be. it is obvious what it is, how you set it up, but the initial impression(s) are highly visceral. 7 |

A funny take on the book. Looks like hot sauce blood? Would have like to see some of the offspring, even if just a shadow or something. 5 |

I keep on looking at this shot. Great idea here to accompany Huxley.
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world
There is a great sense of loneliness.
It took me a while to see the egg, I wished that you did something more interesting with the red, but all in all, a very strong image.

A very simplistic image, but still telling.
I like the idea that you had here... but the "blood" looks too fake, and the drops on the ground (which I assume are foot prints), I would have liked to had seen look MORE like foot prints.
Overall, I like the concept, and the title is fitting... just a little different execution.
Gave it a 5 |

Loved this book. Picked a hard one, got the reproductive reference. A nice cleanly executed shot, gives one a starting point and sets them adrift knowing they can work it out because there are plenty of avenues to take. I think you've done well, minimal is good.6. |

I'm not a fan of set-up shots on white backgrounds. What is this Platonic environment you're trying to create? (Don't answer that. I know it's just a practical matter.) However, I will give you a point for the tracks of blood, suggesting both the pain of the new, and also the frightfulness of the new. 4 |

It took me a second or two to figure out what I was looking at, but when it clicked, I was like "Crap, this is awesome!". Very creatively done, indeed! Love the footprints, and the blood is so life-like (a little disturbing!). Top 3 for me! |
