An older photo, uploaded to prints on request.

Another animal abstract. The title is intended to evoke implications of venetian blinds (obvious) and perhaps a more subtle hint about venetian masks, specifically the beak doctor (//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beak_doctor_costume). Associated with plague doctors, it forms an effective memento mori, as does this turkey vulture. The dried blood on his beak just serves to emphasise that aspect of the image.

The visual intention here is that the bird is un-grounded, but not really in flight either... simply draped across the frame of the image, somehow suspended like a gargoyle from a cathedral gutter, sinister and outreaching. The isolation of the white background again serves to isolate the subject from our worldly realm, placing it more like an apparition than an ordinary wildlife subject.
