Hello RLS
CC:
Fits The Challenge 100%
Composition-Content-What a great place for taking photos. This shot is well constructed. We are perfect distance from the falls (the main subject) and the hills, trees and rocks compliment them. The little touch of sky is important as it tell us where we are in relation to the horizon.
Background-Beautiful wooded winter view.
Digital Processing-A bit underexposed. For my personal taste I find this to be the only weak area. The shot is too dark for my liking. I saved it and adjusted the levels/contrast. Again for me personally,- that would of made it a 10 and a ribbon winner. The rocks on both the right and left are interesting and do add to this shot.
My Opinion-'Cumberland Falls' I like this powerful shot. The history of the falls is very interesting and I would like to see that Moonbow. I can almost hear the rush of the water and feel the spray on my face.
Thanks for the chance to review your shot, it's very well done.

Beautiful picture, I can almost hear the rushing of the falls. So well composed and those rocks are good and sharp! Missed this one during the voting. Sorry, mate. |

Nice shot. I like the placementof the falls. Good use of B&W. I assume the sky was overcast? Good luck. Jacko. |

Nice composition. Focus seems a tad soft in the middle - was there mist? I think I would prefer to see this beautiful scene in color. |

I know that it is tough to take good winter shots without snow, but the black and white here doesn't really help. I like the placement of the fall in the shot, but there's too much empty water space in the foreground. The lighting isn't bad, and I do like the diagonal of the rocks leading to the fall. |

Now this is a photographer with a mature vision. This says volumes differently than a blazing sunrise of multi colors. Give the gritty rough edges of those boulders, the wispy tree texture of the branches and the mercurial sun dappled water anyday thank you. Really well felt rock shadows. The perfect exposure for the power of the waterfall itself and my fav rav those absolutely gorgeous brook wavelets. Thank you for including the snippet of sky in the upper left. I think that the photo would feel to dark and cramped without it. That patch of light gives breathing space and life to the image. I am sure that you will receive many other compliments and encouragement. But I will wish you a redundant good luck anyways. |

I'm not sure that black & white does this justice... why not color? |

Excellent composition. Sheer perfection. Your b&w has wonderful contrast. There's not an element out of place. If an painter were to paint it, it would be exactly like this, I think. |

The exposure on this image is just about perfect... The darks are not too dark to lose any detail and the lights are not over exposed. This is a very important part of a great black and white... I particularly like the way you composed the fall in the upper right segment of the frame... = 10 - setzler |

Excellent composition, can't think of a thing I would change except to suggest going back in Spring or Summer and reshooting to get a color version! |

A bit underexposed, but I like the picture. You could also crop out the little bit of sky in the upper left though. |

I have so many favourites this week, and this is one of them. Too bad you couldn't jump in a boat and take more pictures that way. 10! -Annida |
